A summary of claims in Victoria

Currently in Victoria there are 17 active Native Title applications:

• NTSV represents the applicants in 12 of the claims;

• 11 claims have been referred to the National Native Title Tribunal for mediation.

Native Title Services Victoria is also looking at the opportunities for Victoria's Aboriginal nations to achieve land justice through avenues outside formal Native Title outcomes. These include:

• Indigenous Land Use Agreements

• A Land Justice Settlement with the State Government and Traditional Owners

• Developing Protocols with Local and State Government.

New Land Justice Group website

The Victorian Traditional Owners Land Justice Group (LJG) is continuing a long tradition of traditional owner activism and working together for land justice in Victoria.
